 Food

We believe in sharing the love and shouting about our incredible producers and their stories from the rooftops! We have noted features of each Producer such as those who are Social Enterprises, donate part profits to Charitable Causes or cater for Dietary related issues

As an ex professional chef, I love to keep up with food trends and experiment with different flavours, and good food and nutrition will always be my passion. You can imagine my devastation when, in 2010, I was diagnosed as being Coeliac.

Slowly but surely their products have evolved, Basketcase is now a full-time business employing three people, covering many many dietary requirements such as vegan, GF, and DF with new products in development all the time.

Glazes and Marinades, Salad Dressings, Salts and Flavour Rubs, Sauces and Relishes. Their products are all created in small batches, commercially in Altona North. Combining and blending the finest of natural ingredients to create products that are of high quality; and are a perfect match with the amazing and diverse fresh produce that Australia has to offer.

Bretzel biz was born from a passion. A passion to re-create the traditional Bretzels from Germany and share them with a country where Bretzels were still relatively unknown.

There was only one way: to handcraft, handroll and twist each Bretzel individually using a team of Bretzel aficionados in a specialist bakery in the heart off Inner West Melbourne.

Servicing markets and large scale events pre-COVID, Bretzel biz turned to offering bake at home kits to take the traditional taste of Germany home.

They're always experimenting with new flavours, so if you’ve got a tasty idea, we’d love to hear from you!

Bianca Luscombe, founder of Curiously Cauli, has lived with Type 1 Diabetes since early childhood. This shaped her broad knowledge of nutrition and the body, which led her to  explore healthier alternatives to high carbohydrate foods. Coming from an Italian background, Bianca learned the craft and joy of cooking from her mother, mastering various recipes using fresh, natural ingredients. With generous amounts of Australian grown vegetables in her diet, she set out to create new recipes and discovered a ‘star’ vegetable in the process – cauliflower.

Our current vision is to run Curiously Cauli with a minimal environmental footprint and reduce the amount of vegetable wastage in Australia. Up to 40% of cauliflower crops may not reach the grocery store due to the supermarkets' high cosmetic standards and specifications. As a result, numerous cauliflowers are thrown away to landfill, ultimately affecting the environment/climate.

By using grade 2 cauliflowers and turning them into high quality/value vegan and GF food products, we can greatly reduce vegetable wastage. We are proud to stock our range of GF Cauli crackers in the Positive Feeds store.

Hello! I'm Harry, chef-owner of Chappy's Snacks.

From the moment I trialed the first batch of kettle-cooked chips back in 2018, all I wanted to do was make really good potato chips. I started in a food-truck with a little deep fryer, a wire skimmer and a great recipe. With loads of energy, mixed with some good old fashioned hard-yakka I started to chip away.

One thing I know for sure is that if I can make a good quality chip, using really great produce, with the help from happy staff, and support of the local community, the result is going to be a couple of happy chappies :)

I get such a kick out of making one of “life's simple pleasures”; however, none of it would be possible without my mini commercial chip factory which is located in Port Melbourne, Victoria. In march 2020 the Chappy's Snacks kitchen was built to make GF, vegetarian kettle-cooked potato chips in small batches all by hand. This was a big step forward for the brand, because today Chappy's can be found in over 20 local bottle shops, independent grocers and cafe/deli’s around Melbourne, including Positive Feeds.

social enterprise

Our organisation is here to support Australians no matter their background or circumstances,  ensuring that they receive the food relief that they deserve.

At Food For Change, our volunteers grow their own produce, lead food rescue initiatives, support food relief agencies and reduce food waste across the country. This is all done with one goal in mind: to alleviate food inequality, which devastates thousands of Australians each year.

Founded in 2016, Food For Change has made a positive impact on the lives of many. With the help of our volunteers, we are working towards a future where no person needs to go without food.

At Food For Change we value sustainability and fresh food. Grow your own food with our Seeds For Change Program, or sign up to our Monthly Fresh Food Box with all profits going towards feeding people in need.

Help change the lives of Australians.

Before having a family, Lynn was professionally engaged to promote Australian food ingredients to food manufacturers in Asia. This was a role that she relished because as a food scientist, she was communicating an Australian food story that she truly believed. She was proud of Australia’s high quality, pure food products, born out of such a clean, green environment.

So it was only natural when she became a mother that I developed a heightened sensitivity for the need for healthy, natural food. Whilst trying to find the right nutritious foods for her family, she realised that a rapidly increasing proportion of food products and ingredients are being sourced from overseas.

“The idea that the nourishing bounty produced by Australian farmers was being by-passed was the tipping point in inspiring me to take action. “ Hence, Get Farmed! the food brand with a mission was born, and is now based out of the Inner West of Melbourne.

Their mission is simple: Provide healthy, natural foods sourced locally with honesty, integrity and sustainability to support our Australian farmers. We are proud to our GF, vegetarian & vegan range in Positive Feeds.

Josh&Sue Gourmet Selection is created by a local Inner West family who established their range in 2013. “We came up with the idea to start a gluten free condiment and ingredients range after Josh was diagnosed as being gluten intolerant. We have replaced malt vinegars from more traditional recipes and ensured that our range is gluten free and along the way we have created a range of vegan friendly goodies.”

Fast forward a few years, Josh&Sue now creates a range of more than 25 GF, Vegan, or vegetarian gourmet condiments and ingredients.  We send our  gourmet foods nationally online to food lovers throughout Australia. We wholesale to Independent gourmet supermarkets and deli's around Australia. We work with some fantastic distributors across the country.

Just Sweets started off as a family of handmade chocolate lovers, making and perfecting handmade chocolates and fine sweets.

Their confectioneries and chocolates were shared, with chocoholics and sweet-tooths, locally in markets and at shows, such as Red Hill Market and Cherry Lake Market.

Their passion for making fine sweets grew, as did our customers’ demand, so they moved their inspired creations to a factory in Altona, Victoria in 2002, to develop unique treats, as well as sell old favourites. Just Sweets are fast becoming a local household name for quality confectionery products, as well as making our delicious treats available around the country.

Still a 100% family-owned business, master confectioners pride themselves on creating the finest hand made chocolates, wonderful confectioneries, and now, irresistible peanut butter as well.

Pre-COVID, Keeper & Co. were a thriving mobile bar and catering company servicing events from the westside of Melbourne all the way to the Otways.

The pandemic put a hold on any and all those events. We have always used our own handmade sauces, jams, chutneys and honey from our hives located across western Victoria in the food we serve, and they've always been a hit with our customers. So we decided we still needed to get these flavours out to people to add a bit of spice to people's days at home during lockdown.

Combining her passion for wellness and love of cooking, Jo Clarke decided to create a range of natural cookies that are wholesome yet delicious. Using only the highest quality ingredients and superfoods that were primarily organic, it was determined to prove that healthy didn’t have to mean tasteless.

As a sufferer of egg and dairy intolerances herself, Jo was committed to providing an alternate treat for people with food allergies. After countless hours in the kitchen, she came up with 4 unique mouth-watering recipes and started selling her cookies at the local Farmers Market where the response was overwhelming.

With a little help and inspiration from her family business Kookas Country Cookies, Kookas Natural Cookies was born. Proudly Australian owned, our guilt free gourmet treats are also 100% Australian made.

For one of the smallest food trucks in Melbourne’s Inner West, we pack a big lunch and we can serve hundreds of clients in a single session.

At Maple Leaf Meats we are all about creating amazing food experiences with Canadian flavours. All our products are made in-house with love and care.

We are about Low and Slow Smoked meats and providing Melbourne a unique experience. We have now produced a range of traditional Canadian seasonings and salts specifically for the passionate home cook and are proudly stocking at the Inner West providore store - Positive Feeds.

Our sauces and condiments were initially developed because I found there was no Low FODMAP, home made style sauces available in my local grocery store - i.e. premium products that were not full of gums and hidden nasties.

When I was diagnosed with Fructose Malabsorption + gluten intolerance my life took a turn! I was suddenly denied all the flavour enhancing ingredients I had used on a daily basis, GARLIC + ONION being at the top of my list.

All of my products are made from premium ingredients, made by hand and small batch produced. Lovingly made in Daylesford, Victoria. I try to use as many local and Australian products as possible.

san elk risotto.jpg

San Elk is a small food manufacturing family business based in West Footscray, Melbourne. We specialise in producing premium quality handcrafted certified organic food products.

Food has always been an important part of our lives, growing up we remember waking up to the smell of our parents cooking. Our parents would get up early in the morning to prepare meals for the day and we couldn’t leave the house until each meal was finished.

We’ve always had a special connection with food and family, as it brings us together. Our European heritage has been very influential in our love of food, allowing us to experiment and create various meals and recipes to share with our family and friends.

We are passionate about cooking healthy and nutritious meals for our family and are conscious of the hidden chemicals in food products. As a result we wanted to create all natural stock made with fresh certified organic ingredients.

Sticky Balsamic hand-crafts Australia’s most awarded balsamic vinegar varieties, proudly hand-crafted in the Golden Plains shire in regional Victoria.

At Sticky Balsamic, our aim is to "make the everyday cook feel like a chef" which is easy to do using our multi-medal-winning, gourmet fruit-infused balsamic vinegar, designed to be used with almost everything to provide that extra special taste.

With humble beginnings only six years ago, our regional, family owned business independently created five varieties, which has now grown to include twelve varieties. We are thankful that many chefs use Sticky Balsamic in their restaurants and cafe's, and that retailers right across Australia choose to stock Sticky Balsamic in their stores.

Helen’s career began as a youngster having left university and needing a job. Her innate desire to work as a cook landed her at William Angliss College to hone her knife skills and give it a shot. From there she embarked on a journey to many kitchens and encounters with wonderful hospitality mentors. There were days at the David Jones Food Hall, mornings as a breakfast chef in Brunswick St, mastering Toad in the Hole to the applause of pub goers in England , and fond memories of working alongside Greg Brown of Browns Restaurant and  Bakery fame, who inspired her with his relentless drive, passion and eye for detail.

Many lessons, scars and dishes later, Stir Crazy was born.
